I’m getting more organized this year and that includes making something to display my jewellery where I can see it, so I’ll be prompted to wear it more often. I made two frames, one for my mom and one for me, and it cost me approximately $20 for both. This will alternate if you already have some of these items or you can find a better price. You can also compensate for the cost if you make additional ones and sell them. (If I were to sell the ones I made, the larger one would be $35 and the smaller one $30, simply b/c it was painted).

What you will need:

THRIFT STORE:
Vintage and/or carved wood frames (Bible’s For Missions $2.00 each in the wharehouse, ask clerk for assistance, prices may vary)
Vintage Door Knobs to match frame (you may need to repaint them to match)

WAL-MART:
Krylon Aerosol Spray Paint in Brilliant Gold (or another metallic of your choice) [the hardware cloth already comes in silver, so repaint it to match your frame as desired]
OPTIONAL: Hot Glue Gun (depending on the thickness of the base of your door knobs, they may not screw on all the way b/c of the tight space)

HARDWARE STORE:
Hardware Cloth (smallest roll was approx. $7.99)
1/8″ or 3mm Peg Board (smallest size and you can ask them to cut it down to desired sizes for you)

DOLLAR STORE:
Acrylic Paint
OPTIONAL: Sand Paper (My door knobs needed to be sanded down in order for the paint to adhere)
OPTIONAL: Hot glue for glue gun

PAINT STORE (that sells wallpaper and gives samples):
FREE samples of wallpaper (if you cannot find desired pattern or colour, you can choose a plain white with or without embossing and paint yourself)

GARAGE/ TOOL SHED:
Pliers
Snips
Hammer
Electric Hand Drill
Drill Bits (for Pre-Drilling the holes for your door knobs to prevent your frame from cracking)
Bits (to push screws into your frame for door knobs)
Square bit (to hammer staples into frame if they’re longer)
Industrial Staple Gun
Industrial Staples
Electric Saw or Chop Saw (to cut your boards to desired length if they don’t do it at the hardware store)
Measuring Tape
Work Gloves
OPTIONAL: Handy Assistant knowledgeable in construction (My brother Stephen helped me)

RUMMAGE:
Tape
Scissors
Ruler
Marker
Sponge (check your cleaning supplies)
Old Rag (or you can use an old sock and cut open)
Paint Palette or paper/plastic plate
Newspaper

Handi Mandi TV – Christmas Decor: DIY Tree Make Over

Do you have a Christmas tree from last year that needs a Makeover?

Using most of the decor already on my tree and making some ornaments to match, I’m going to give it a much needed makeover. Here’s what you’ll need:

WAL-MART:
*Krylon Aerosol Spray Paint in Brilliant Silver (or another metallic of your choice)
*Elmers Spray Adhesive
*Elmers Glitter in desired colour (I only saw gold and silver, you may have to go to Michael’s or a craft store for other colours) *This is if you find ornaments that need a make-over using these items

DOLLAR STORE:
Rubber Gloves
Cheap Christmas Ornaments (I pick up some small apples and pears that already had tassels on them at a craft surplus, so pick something all ready for you or that you can update with spray paint and/or glitter)

RUMMAGE:
Newspaper or Flyers (if you don’t have any you can take them from your neighbour’s recycling bins when they’re being collected)
Cardboard Box

I hope you have fun. I would love to hear back from you and hear how your project(s) turned out, feel free to video reply or leave any requests, comments, suggestions, questions, etc in the comment section below. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Handi Mandi TV – Art with Make-Up 2: Glimpse of Glory (Time Lapse)

Dust off your old make-up and create some art!

This is the second art with make-up and this time with blue and green colours. I’m also using my power eye-shadows with water on water colour paper like watercolour, allowing for transparency.
This piece is inspired by how we sometimes feel that all the problems of our lives are making us feel like we’re drowning. If you notice there is a cross of light, which represents Christ Jesus. He is our Saviour if we choose to accept the freedom from sin and a life of pain and guilt and be reborn as a new creature. We can then walk in God’s love and live by his grace, overcoming the worlds temptations to live free and in constant joy.
If you have any requests, questions, comments, etc. please feel free to shout out in the comments below. I would love to hear from you all.

Painting with Bubbles – Divine Fingerprint (Rainbow + Gold) Time Lapse

I wanted to continue exploring a new art medium using bubbles and food colouring which I started last week (link below). This time I used much more, like ridiculously more food colouring for the project so it would not be so washed out and transparent. I hope you like it as much as I do, because it turned out fantastic.

If you have any requests, feedback or replies (written or video), please post them below. I would love to hear from all of you.
